AANA Society Awards

The Annual Meeting affords an ideal opportunity to commend our members for their outstanding service and commitment not just to AANA, but to the arthroscopy and minimally invasive surgery profession. The awards below are distributed to members who display excellence in certain areas of education, service, advocacy, publications and research.

The Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes an individual’s ongoing commitment to AANA and minimally invasive surgery through education, service, advocacy, publications and research.

2021 Recipient: John C. Richmond, MD

The Distinguished Service Award is bestowed upon an AANA member for exceptional service leading an initiative or project for the association, orthopeadic community or the community at large. The recipient is a member who has demonstrated a tireless commitment through donated time, resources and influential leadership.

This award recognizes an AANA Member that has demonstrated a commitment to the education of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Through teaching at courses, presenting lectures and delivering hand-on training, this educator has dedicated time and energy to the advancement of minimally invasive surgery.

2021 Recipient: Shane Nho, MD, MS

AANA’s 2021 Traveling Fellowship features three site visits across the country that allow these talented participants to gain advanced experience in arthroscopy through surgical indication discussions, learning the merits of new surgical techniques and sharing life stories. We want to thank the host sites participating in the 2021 Traveling Fellowship: The University of Colorado Denver, the Steadman Philippon Research Institute and The San Antonio Orthopaedic Group.
